Libraries matter! To cities, to citizens, to communities. "Libraries: At the Heart of Our Communities" was published in the Summer 2009 issue of the Planning Commissioners Journal. It discusses the importance of public library services and buildings to the economic, commercial, and cultural vitality of large, medium, and small communities across the US.
Mead Public Library appreciates the support it receives from area residents, organizations, businesses, and others. Many important services and purchases are possible only because of private donations which supplement, but never supplant, City of Sheboygan appropriations. The library maintains a "wish list" listing items for your consideration.
The Mead Public Library Foundation benefits the community by raising, managing and distributing funds to enhance the Library and to increase awareness of Library needs and services.
The Friends of Mead Public Library provide funding and volunteer support to Mead Public Library. Membership is open to all.
Donations of money or certain other items (such as books) may be made to Mead Public Library directly, or may be made to the Mead Public Library Foundation or to the Friends of Mead Public LIbrary.
Volunteers are always welcome at Mead Library, whether as a Friends of the Library volunteer, a Cool Picks summer teen reading program volunteer, a board member, or volunteering to assist with various library tasks.
