If an item you would like to borrow is checked out to another customer or available at another library, you can place a hold/reserve on it. When the item is available, it will be set aside and you will be notified that it is available for pickup at the Mead Customer Service desk. There is no charge for this service. It can take several days or longer if the item is not checked out, or weeks or even months if the item is in demand. Mead Library cannot guarantee how long it may take for a reserved item to be available to you, even if you are the first name on the list.
Mead Public Library implements a 50¢ charge on holds that are not picked up. When you are notified the item is available, you will be informed of the date by which the item must be picked up or canceled.
To place a hold in person at Mead Library or online, you may use EasiCat, the library's computerized catalog. You will need to enter your borrower ID, that is, your Mead Library card number (using zero five times before the number, if necessary, to create a 10-digit number). Your password/PIN is the last four digits of the telephone number you listed when you applied for a library card.
To place a hold by phone, call any library service desk at 459-3400, ext. 3401, to first check on the availability of the title you need. The staff member can place a hold for you. (You will need to provide your library card number to place a hold.) For children's materials, call ext. 3404; for adult materials, call ext. 3422.

When you pick up a held item, you must have your library card with you to check out the item.
